—Shark fishing has stayed red hot this summer, and we have been catching black tip, spinner, and lemon sharks near the passes and off of the beaches.
—This week, small sardine schools have moved close to shore. We have had success by chasing the bait fish, and then casting mackerel chunks into the middle of them.
—To determine if a bait school is particularly active with sharks and other predators, watch it closely for about one minute before approaching. If there are no splashes, birds, or fins cutting through the surface, then move on until you find more commotion.
—If an active bait school is found, sharks will likely be caught every cast.
