—Although it has warmed up slightly these past couple of weeks, the sheepshead bite has still been red-hot around structure. My clients and I have been finding them around submerged structure, as well as near docks and bridges. The bite has been on during almost all tides, and the baits of choice have been sand fleas and shrimp.
—The trick to getting consistent bites when sheepshead fishing is to use light fluorocarbon leaders with small, size 4 hooks. A light split shot will also be needed in order to get the bait to the bottom.
