Summer has arrived here on Anna Maria Island, from the Love Bugs and temperatures climbing into the 90s to the late afternoon thunderstorms. The inshore bite is staying pretty productive nonetheless, as we are catching lots of Snook in the shallow water with a few Redfish mixed in. Now that the closure of Sea Trout is in affect, we are now focusing on Mangrove Snapper, Flounder and Spanish Mackerel to put in the cooler. I seem to do well with the Mangs and Macs around the shallow reefs throughout the they bay, and as the summer heats up so will this bite.

The Tarpon are starting to show up and in pretty good numbers as well. We have been seeing many pods of 100 lb plus fish, so if this on your bucket list then I would recommend booking a trip soon. The Tarpon bite should only get better through the rest of May and into June. Come check us out at Island Discount Tackle for all of your fishing needs. We now have Pass Crabs available and frozen Menhaden Shad for the Tarpon enthusiast. Until next week Catch Em’ Up.
