—The temperature has dropped due to recent cold fronts, and tripletail have begun to appear on crab trap buoys near Anna Maria Island, Florida
—Not only are they a VERY unique looking fish, but they are also great-tasting and strong fighters. The trick is to slowly make your way down sets of crab trap lines until you see what looks like a brown/amber blotch under the water. They prefer small crabs and shrimp, but can also be enticed to take artificial baits, like this 13.5 pounder which was caught on a small shrimp fly.
—So this winter, try it yourself, make a good cast, and HOLD ON TIGHT!
