Even with some weather around we still managed a great week of fishing here on Anna Maria Island.  Late Spring is a great time of the year for inshore fishing, we caught everything from Redfish, Snook, Flounder, Sea Trout, Spanish Mackerel, and a few other species on our charters.

Larry Miles from Pa. with a brute redfish!

Jeff and Larry had a fantastic morning trip with us this week, we started our day messing around with some Redfish that have been lurking around the island. Jeff broke the ice with a couple slot size fish 22-24 inches and Larry showed him up with a 30 inch stud, Larry said it was the toughest battle and biggest fish he has ever landed.  We took a few pictures and let all the fish go to fight another day. They guys also managed a couple Sea Trout to take home for supper.

I also had the pleasure of fishing with Paul and his son Trevor this week, and we had a stellar day. They wanted to focus more on fish the could eat, so we pounded the flats for Trout, Flounder, and Spanish Mackerel. Our first spot we settled in and caught a couple Flounder along with a handful of nice Snook. The Flounder in my opinion is one of the best eating fish that our bays have to offer. As the tide slowed we headed to a deep grass flat where the Speckled Sea Trout and Spanish Mackerel kept our lines tight.

The bite is hot right now and the forecast looks great, so come check us out at Island Discount Tackle to book a trip or gear up for all your fishing and marine needs. Until next week, CATCH EM’ UP!
