—Winter is slowly creeping in, and some great triple tail fishing has come with it. Triple tail are strange-looking and hard-fighting fish that come close to shore during the winter months. They can usually be found far offshore under floating debris, but from November to February they come close to land and huddle under the numerous crab trap buoys.

—Triple tail are hearty eaters, and can be enticed to eat both artificial baits and flies. That being said, live bait always works best. Shrimp, crabs, and small shiners entice most every triple tail to eat this time of year. Ten pound braided line and a twenty to thirty pound monofilament leader should be a general line choice. Small hooks, light rods, and spinning reels will allow for a great fight while being plenty strong for these fish.
